Worship: a Proclamation of Our Identity in Christ
Extraordinarily gifted worship leaders Mark and Jen Hadley draw Radiant into the presence of God with fresh renewal, pointing us to a passion for His Spirit. In the process of connecting us in song, they seek to provide declarations of who we are in Christ, in an ongoing experience of fulfilling worship.
Mark shares, “I‟ve been in ministry for twenty years. I believe the church needs to release people into their unique shape and style so they can say, “I love God, and it sounds like this.‟ I have a recording studio at my house. I love helping other people find their own unique voice and expression and capturing it.
“Corporately, there are a lot of things going on in a season of worship. I try to sense what God is doing in a broader way – perhaps a song or theme – and how He wants to move in a Gathering, and find a song that fits. During the Gathering, I‟m focused on the moment, but in a prophetic way, I‟m trying to extend to the congregation songs which are pillars toward which God would have us move. When you own a song by singing it to Him, God moves and people respond.”
“What does the Lord seek from us in that process? To allow Him to reveal Himself to us and break down our
guardedness. He wants us to sense and find Him, to connect with Him, to hear from Him. Worship is how the Lord reaches into our innermost being; it‟s a bridge. Music is a mystery.”
“In worship, the deepest part of us can reach the deepest part of Him. It‟s an amazing way He quiets our world. We have the ability to hear from God in the middle of a song; out of that flows a clarity of who God is, and who we are. God wants us to dialogue–as He speaks, we speak back. Worship is also about declaring the identity of who Jesus is. It’s a proclamation that He’s the Son of the living God.”
Mark has a vision to see Radiant produce two annual CD’s–one of live corporate worship, and another featuring original songs created by songwriters in our body. The CD’s would be a tool to inspire the congregation, and bring de-churched people back into the church. The compilation recordings would provide awareness of emerging music ministry, capture Radiant‟s heart for God and corporate worship, and be used for training musicians and future worship leaders.
Mark says, “Authentic Christian community is where relationships are the most important priority– one of no pretense or agenda within a relational group of people. Music is secondary to getting people to connect. Let‟s lead out in love.”
